Applications are invited for a Doctoral (PhD) Position (80%) at the Cognitive Psychology Unit, Department of Psychology, University of Zurich. The start date should ideally be July 1st, 2026. The position is for 4 years.
The successful applicant will work with Prof. Klaus Oberauer on a project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation entitled: “Modeling Visual Working Memory”. The project’s goal is to understand how visual working memory works through behavioral experiments and computational modeling.

We expect:
- A MSc or equivalent in Psychology or a related discipline (preferably from a Bologna compatible 2-year MSc program)
- Experience with experimental research
- Excellent research methods knowledge and skills
- Interest in pursuing an academic career in cognitive psychology
- Very good command of English (written and oral)
In addition, it would be desirable if you had:
- Programming skills (R, Matlab, Python, JavaScript, HTML)
- Experience with mathematical / computational modeling
- Experience with Bayesian statistics
